Sochi May Flood from Heavy Precipitation and Snowmelt

The Ministry of Civil Defense and Emergencies of Krasnodar Krai warns that due to heavy rains, significant increases in air temperature, and active snowmelt, rises in river levels and possible flooding of certain areas are forecast in the region.

Heavy precipitation is expected from January 31 to February 1. The main area of precipitation: southwestern, part of southeastern districts, and the Black Sea coast (Tuapse Municipal District, Goryachy Klyuch, Gelendzhik, Novorossiysk, Sochi, Abinsky, Apsheronsky, Belorechensky, Krymsky, Seversky districts). If heavy rain is forecast on the coast, then in the mountains, abundant wet snow is expected.
