Residents cry for help as ice coats apartments in Krasnoyarsk

In Krasnoyarsk, residents of the building at 29a Svobodny Prospekt have been freezing in their apartments for a week now — during the peak of the cold spell.
Residents endure low temperatures inside their homes during the severe cold snap.
«The temperature in the apartments is holding at around +11°C (52°F). Numerous appeals to the emergency service have yielded no results: each time they report that the request has been accepted, but no actions are taken.

The building«s heating is supplied by EVRZ. According to rumors and information from residents, an accident occurred there a month ago — a boiler broke down and still hasn»t been repaired,« residents told NGS24.RU.

Residents sent us correspondence from the building«s chat group, where they complain that it»s so cold in the apartments that ice has formed on the floor.
With the same complaint, they reached out to the Telegram channel of Mayor Sergei Vereshchagin. The day before, on 21 January, he stated that he «instructed district administrations to track the resolution of each problem. Both your comments and calls to the »005« service are being taken into account — there were 17 of them yesterday and today.»
However, in just a few hours, many more people — about 200 — wrote to him with complaints about cold apartments.
Earlier, an expert told NGS24.RU that during cold spells, the standard air temperature in apartments should be 22°C (72°F) for corner units and 20°C (68°F) for non-corner units. In case of a violation of this regime, an inspection should be carried out «no later than two hours from the moment the message is received or at another time agreed with the consumer.»
