The school in the village of Borzhigtai has been switched to remote learning due to low temperatures in the building. As explained to Chita.Ru on January 27 by acting head of the Mogoytuysky District Bolot Namzhilov, heat is being blown out of the building and a major repair will solve the problem.

«There was an appeal from residents, and a commission worked at the school. It was found that the resource-supplying organization used a lower-capacity pump at the boiler house. It was replaced, the temperature rose a bit, but that didn»t solve the problem. The boiler room is working normally, and coal reserves are available. There are a number of reasons. First, on the Onon (the village is on the river bank. — Ed.) it is always colder, by almost 10 degrees Celsius (18°F). Secondly, strong winds are blowing. The building is quite old, built in the 90s and has not been overhauled. In autumn, they insulate the windows, but that doesn«t help — the heat is still blown out. We have prepared the project documentation for the major repair, passed the expert review, but we were not included in the program. I understand that funds are limited, but nonetheless we hope that the repair will be done. We have provided for everything to solve the problem — both insulation of the facade and replacement of the heating system,» said the district head.

Schoolchildren are currently studying remotely, as are those in several other villages in the district. At the beginning of next week, they will probably be returned to classes.

He noted that the building previously housed an orphanage, and after its closure, a school, kindergarten, and cultural center were placed there. In the kindergarten, he said, the temperature is higher because ceiling heaters are installed in the rooms.
