Nizhny Novgorod Braces for Harsh Weather on Final January Weekend

After a brief respite, severe frosts are returning to Nizhny Novgorod. In addition, snow is expected again over the weekend. On the night to Saturday, January 31, temperatures will drop to -20°C (-4°F). During the day, it won«t warm up significantly, with temperatures only rising to -18°C (0°F). No precipitation is expected during the day, but snow will fall again at night.

Similar weather is expected on Sunday, February 1. However, daytime frosts will be slightly milder. Throughout the day, air temperature will fluctuate from -19°C (-2°F) to -12°C (10°F). Snowfall is forecast throughout the day.

Incidentally, forecasters predict up to 30 cm (12 inches) of snow could accumulate over the weekend. Road and utility services are operating around the clock, but the city is buried in snow due to the inclement weather.
