Heavy Snowfall Triggers Emergency Warning in Sverdlovsk Region

Emergency services have issued an emergency weather warning. Heavy snow is expected in the region on January 29.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MChS) is urging drivers to obey traffic rules and be cautious when maneuvering.

«If you are caught in a snowfall while driving: move to the far right lane, turn on your hazard lights, and wait out the bad weather, avoiding sudden braking,» the regional MChS reported.

Pedestrians are advised to stay away from unstable structures and houses with unsteady roofs, and to beware of broken wires and shattered glass.
