Heat wave brings +15°C to Krasnodar in late January

A brief warm spell is bringing spring-like weather to Krasnodar, but forecasters warn it will be short-lived.

In Krasnodar on Thursday, January 29, forecasters promise long-awaited warming up to +15°C (59°F). It will be without precipitation, with nighttime temperatures dropping to +6°C (43°F). On Friday, January 30, city residents can expect similar weather and temperatures around +13°C (55°F). However, by the weekend, the regional capital will see downpours and rain mixed with snow.
Across the region, conditions will be cloudy but dry. In the north, overnight and morning temperatures are forecast at +2 to +7°C (36 to 45°F), with possible icy roads. Southern districts will experience wind gusts of 12-14 m/s, but thermometers will read +12 to +17°C (54 to 63°F). The coast will also stay warm and rain-free, with highs of +10 to +15°C (50 to 59°F).
Mikhail Leus, a lead specialist at the Fobos weather center, stated that a ridge of high pressure is influencing weather in Krasnodar Krai. This pattern is pushing temperatures 5–6°C above seasonal averages. According to the meteorologist, the average regional temperature will rise to +11 to +13°C (52 to 55°F).
Previously, the portal 93.RU reported that after the warm spell, residents should brace for February frosts. A wave of Arctic air is expected to reach the Black Sea coast by February 2, bringing snow and a sharp temperature drop across the region.
