Forecasters warn of cold and snow in Bashkortostan

The Epiphany frosts (a traditional cold spell around January 19) that hit Bashkortostan in mid-January are gradually receding, giving way to snowfalls. According to Bashhydromet (the Bashkir Hydrometeorological Service), no particularly severe cold is expected in the region, although road hazards have not disappeared.
Today, January 21, light snow will pass through Bashkortostan, with moderate snow in the southern districts. After nighttime temperatures of -13…-18 degrees Celsius (approximately 9…0 degrees Fahrenheit), daytime temperatures will be around -8…-13 degrees Celsius (18…9°F).
‘On some road sections — visibility in snow reduced to 1-2 km, black ice,’ forecasters warned.
As indicated by Yandex.Weather, in Ufa, it will be -12 degrees Celsius (10°F) in the morning, warming up to -10 degrees Celsius (14°F) during the day, aided by sunlight. After sunset, the temperature will drop back to -12 degrees Celsius (10°F), and by night to -16 degrees Celsius (3°F).
Sterlitamak, however, will start the day at -17 degrees Celsius (1°F). During the day, it will be cloudy, with possible snow, temperatures around -15…-14 degrees Celsius (5…7°F). After sunset, it will drop to as low as -18 degrees Celsius (0°F).
Earlier, forecasters noted that the average monthly temperature norm for January is -12.5 degrees Celsius (9.5°F).
