Forecasters say if anomalous snow paralyzing Moscow will reach Voronezh

Forecasters say Voronezh will not see the same extreme snowfall as Moscow. The region will experience moderate snow and a return to cold temperatures later this week.

The kind of heavy snowfall seen in Moscow is not expected in Voronezh. A correspondent for Voronezh1.ru was informed of this by the regional Hydrometeorological Center.

Snow is already expected in the city tomorrow, January 28, but it will be light to moderate in intensity. On the 30th, parts of our region are forecast to see heavy precipitation in the form of sleet and rain, as well as icy conditions.

«Another temperature swing is coming. After severe frosts, a warming trend will last for just a couple of days. In the coming days, it will be around zero in Voronezh, but on January 30 it will become cold again—the temperature in the city will drop to -9… -11°C (16…12°F),» the duty forecaster said.

A snowstorm blanketed Moscow today. A major cyclone that arrived in the capital late last evening is dumping snow on the city, which, according to forecasters, will continue until Thursday. During this period, more than half of the monthly precipitation norm will fall in the city, threatening to form snowdrifts up to 50 centimeters (1 ft 8 in) high.
