Forecasters predict frosty week in Zabaykalye

Winter continues to hold its ground across Zabaykalsky Krai, with meteorologists forecasting consistently subzero temperatures throughout the upcoming week.

The week in Zabaykalsky Krai is expected to be frosty. The forecast was published on January 27 on the website of the regional department for hydrometeorology and environmental monitoring.

The prevailing air temperature at night is expected to range from -35 to -40°C (-31 to -40°F). In the Mogochinsky district and some southern and southeastern areas, temperatures will be -29 to -34°C (-20 to -29°F), while in the northern and partly eastern areas, the cold will intensify to -46°C (-51°F).

During the day, temperatures are expected to be -20 to -25°C (-4 to -13°F), in some parts of the northern half of the krai -25 to -30°C (-13 to -22°F), and in the southern half -15 to -20°C (5 to -4°F).

The wind will be northeasterly at 3–8 meters per second. No significant precipitation is expected during the week.
