Forecaster explains snowfall forecast map for Bashkortostan
A map shows expected snowfall areas across Bashkortostan as explained by a meteorologist.
Snowfalls have arrived in Bashkortostan. According to the forecast from Bashhydromet (Bashkir Hydrometeorological Service), blizzards are expected in some areas of the republic. UFA1.RU asked Alexander Ilyin, a forecaster from the «Meteo» center, to detail which ones.
He noted that, based on today«s data, the snow boundary runs near Ufa through Blagoveshchensk (and is approaching the capital of Bashkortostan) and between Oktyabrsky and Belebey in the west of the republic.
«During the night, light snow will fall in Ufa, but it won»t advance further south than 100 kilometers. Davlekanovo, Belebey, Priyutovo will fall slightly into the snow zone. During the day, the boundary will start retreating north, and tomorrow around midday precipitation in Ufa will stop, snow will return to the northern areas,« Alexander Ilyin told UFA1.RU.
As he explained, this snow front is stable in the meridional direction, but from north to south it wobbles—back and forth it is pushed by air masses with very contrasting temperatures.
«In the north, air temperature reaches -10 to -17°C (14 to 1°F), and in the south from -3°C to -4°C (27 to 25°F)—such are the contrasts,» the forecaster noted.
According to his data, in Ufa tomorrow, January 21, a temperature of about -6°C (21°F) is expected. Overnight into Sunday, it won«t change much and will hold, according to the forecast, between -7°C and -8°C (19 to 18°F). In some areas in the west and center, it»s even warmer—from -5 to -7°C (23 to 19°F).
«The coldest will be on the northern borders and southeastern—Uchaly, Beloretsk, Sibay. There around -10°C (14°F). And during the day, across all of Bashkortostan, air temperature will prevail from -5 to -10°C (23 to 14°F). In the east, -10°C (14°F) will persist, and in the central part—in the vicinity of Ufa, Sterlitamak, Birsk—temperature may rise to -2 to -6°C (28 to 21°F),» Alexander Ilyin said.
Overnight, there will be no significant precipitation, but during the day, northern areas in places will again see light snowfalls. However, the central and southern parts of the republic—absolutely without precipitation. During the day, snow will again pass through western areas—from Oktyabrsky towards Belebey.
«Bashkortostan falls into the warm part of a cyclone, which will pass through the southern areas of Volgo-Vyatka, through Tatarstan. Its further direction is to the north of Perm Krai. Thanks to such a trajectory, you end up in the warm sector, which leads to higher temperatures,» the forecaster explained.
He added that gusty winds are not expected in Bashkortostan either on Saturday or Sunday. Average speed—3–6 meters per second. As Alexander Ilyin put it, Bashkortostan won«t be frightened by such.
«Even along the northern borders, where the warm front will pass, only a short-term increase in wind is possible—no more than 10 meters per second,» the specialist from the «Meteo» center said.
