Extreme Cold in Tyumen May Cancel School Again

Tyumen meteorologists are urgently warning of abnormally cold weather, which is expected in the region in the coming days. The air temperature will drop a full 10 degrees below the climate norm.

«The average daily air temperature is expected to be as low as -35°C (-31°F) in the south of the Tyumen region on 26 and 27 January», according to the specialists« report.
Meanwhile, according to the Hydrometcentre (the Russian Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring, Roshydromet), temperatures tonight in the region could drop to as low as -42°C (-44°F).
This means that in-person classes for schoolchildren in the Tyumen region may be canceled again. Last week, children already missed lessons for this reason, but it was not without scandal. Parents, students, and even school staff have taken up arms against the authorities over what they see as unfair decisions on weather-related school closures. They complained to well-known public figure Yekaterina Mizulina.
Following this, the head of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, Sergey Kravtsov, called on the heads of regions and executive authorities of the Russian Federation«s subjects in the field of education to respond to the situation responsibly and promptly.
But when will it get warmer in the Tyumen region? Earlier, meteorologists had already shared their forecast on this matter.
