Arkhangelsk Oblast weekend temperatures to plunge near -40°C

According to the Hydrometeorological Center of the Northern UGMС (Управление гидрометеорологической службы — Hydrometeorological Service Administration), on the weekend of January 31 – February 1, thanks to a Scandinavian anticyclone, mostly clear, windless, and frosty weather is expected.
«Air temperatures will be -23 to -28°C (-9 to -18°F) at night, dropping to -38°C (-36°F) during clear spells; during the day -20 to -25°C (-4 to -13°F), and on Sunday in northern areas -13 to -18°C (9 to 0°F),» forecasters said.
Until February 2, in some parts of Arkhangelsk Oblast, anomalously cold weather is expected with a deviation from the climatic norm of 7 degrees or more towards cold.
