At a meeting with heads of mass media of the Ural Federal District (UrFO), envoy Artyom Zhoga answered a question about possible lobbying for the construction of the second metro line in Yekaterinburg.

“Everything I could do and help in this format, I have already done. Understand: there are plans, there is a federal budget, there are other important directions. This decision is not ours, but of the government of the Russian Federation. I think that the time will come, and after all, this issue will be resolved,” explained Zhoga.

According to him, currently attention is focused on other tasks of industrial development, for example, on the extraction of hard-to-recover oil reserves. Also, the envoy mentioned the high-speed train project from the Sinara group: “Again, take the high-speed trains from «Sinara», the development of this project is also big money. When it takes off, it will greatly unload both railway hubs and air communication, and the like.”

Artyom Zhoga admitted that, living in Yekaterinburg for the second year, he has never used the local metro. “How many times we planned, but somehow it didn«t happen. I visit Akademchesky and perfectly understand what people experience when leaving from there. And there is really a whole city, 350 thousand residents,” he noted.

Earlier, Yekaterinburg Mayor Alexey Orlov announced the construction of two new metro stations and reported on the timelines for the start of further subway design.
