The pensioner who was injured in the trolleybus was not holding onto the handrails when the vehicle began to brake. That is why she was injured. The footage shows that the passenger let go of the handrail just a few seconds before the trolleybus came to a complete stop. She was thrown sideways by inertia, couldn«t keep her balance, and fell.
«The driver indeed did not see what was happening at the middle doors; upon exiting the trolleybus, there was a brief instance of being caught, but the victim alighted at the stop,» the administration reported.
They also reminded that passengers must hold on to avoid falling. Moreover, standing on the steps is prohibited as it also poses a risk of injury.
«It is recommended to stand facing the direction of travel in a bus/trolleybus, as this allows one to notice danger in advance and react to it in time,» the mayor«s office said.
