The trolleybus driver who yesterday hit a schoolboy was sober. He had no traffic violations in 2025 and the beginning of 2026. This was reported by Omsk police. According to them, on the day of the accident, the 45-year-old driver passed a mandatory medical check-up, and during the accident, he was in his second hour of work. The trolleybus was in working order.

«During the inspection of the accident site, deficiencies were found in the maintenance of the street-road network: a snow bank had formed along the curb space and in the pedestrian crossing area. An administrative offense case has been initiated — failure to comply with requirements for ensuring road safety in the maintenance of roads and streets.»

The regional prosecutor«s office reported that during interrogation, the driver explained that he was distracted by other traffic and did not notice the red light when entering the intersection of Karl Marx and Tsiolkovsky streets. At the time of the accident, there were 50 passengers on the trolleybus.

«The victim — an 11-year-old gymnasium student, was hospitalized in the intensive care unit. At the time of the accident, the boy was heading to classes.»

Earlier we wrote that the regional investigative committee initiated a criminal case due to the provision of services that do not meet consumer safety requirements.
