As Tomsk resident Anastasia Charkova told NGS70.RU journalist, on the evening of January 16, she needed to travel from the «TYUZ» stop to the Television Center. However, the required bus on route No. 23 did not arrive. Meanwhile, it was -36 degrees Celsius (-33 degrees Fahrenheit) outside. Charkova reached «Pereulok 1905 Goda» on another bus and decided to try her luck there.
‘To warm up a bit, I went into a cafe. There, I thawed out slightly. And only then did No. 23 arrive. People who were standing there complained that they had been waiting for about an hour for transport,’ Anastasia Charkova said.
Bus No. 23 did arrive, but it was too overcrowded. The Tomsk resident recorded a video showing people trying to get into the cabin. Not everyone managed to leave, including Anastasia herself. However, in the end, she waited for her bus and got home.
The video gathered about a million views. In the comments, people expressed dissatisfaction with public transport.
‘I don«t understand why there still aren»t warm bus stops in Siberia. Well, it«s just impossible, it»s torture.’
‘When you«re waiting for the last No. 130 bus. And because of this wait, you can»t go anywhere to warm up. You stand and wait for forty minutes in the bitter cold. I got sick after that. At home, under a blanket, I couldn«t warm up for two hours.’
‘I stand for an hour almost every day to get to work. A taxi from home to work costs 800 rubles (about $9 at current rates) in the mornings.’
