Ural Presidential Envoy Artyom Zhoga commented on whether he would lobby at the federal level for the construction of a second metro line in Yekaterinburg. This was discussed during a meeting between the president«s representative in the Urals Federal District and the heads of Ural media outlets.

“I have already done everything I could and helped in this format. Understand: there are plans, a federal budget, and other important directions. This decision is not ours, but that of the Government of the Russian Federation. I think the time will come, and this issue will still be resolved,” explained Artyom Zhoga.

According to him, there are many other issues regarding industrial development — for example, the development of hard-to-recover oil reserves is currently underway.

“Again, take the high-speed trains from ‘Sinara,’ the development of this project — that«s also a lot of money. When it takes off, it will significantly relieve both railway hubs and air traffic, and so on,” the envoy gave as an example.

By the way, he himself has not yet ridden the Yekaterinburg metro.

“We planned many times, but somehow it didn«t happen. I visit Akademichesky and perfectly understand what people experience when leaving from there. And it really is a whole city, 350 thousand residents,” noted Zhoga.

Earlier, Mayor Alexey Orlov commented on the construction of the second metro line — he announced the construction of two new stations at once. Before that, the mayor told when they would start further design of the metro in Yekaterinburg.
