Perm Highway Closed Due to Heavy Snowfall

The State Traffic Inspectorate of Sverdlovsk Oblast is recommending that residents refrain from trips to Perm due to intense snowfall. In Perm Krai, traffic has been temporarily closed for all vehicles on the highway linking Kostroma, Sharya, Kirov, and Perm.
Restrictions are in effect on the following sections:
- On the approach to Izhevsk (highway M-12 «Vostok»): from 0 km to 86+546 km.
- On the approach to the settlement of Ačit (M-12 «Vostok»): from 9+154 km to 160+387 km.
- On the main route R-243: from 1027+524 km to 1107+715 km.
Currently, on the road, there are blizzard conditions, icy patches, and snow drifts.
«In connection with the traffic restrictions, the State Traffic Inspectorate of Sverdlovsk Oblast strongly advises completely refraining from trips to Perm Krai on the indicated highways until the restrictions are lifted. Drivers whose routes pass through neighboring regions are recommended to check the current road situation before departure and exercise increased caution in bad weather conditions,» noted the traffic police.
Earlier, drivers reported multi-hour traffic jams on the Perm Highway.
On the morning of January 29, Yekaterinburg was hit by a powerful snowfall, which rescuers and meteorologists had warned about in advance.
According to meteorologists« forecasts, adverse weather conditions in the Urals will persist on January 30 as well.
