Nizhny Novgorod Transport Companies Fined 2.9 Million Rubles

The Center for Transport System Development has summarized the results of on-site inspections for the past year. Specialists from the agency inspected 560 buses operating on Nizhny Novgorod routes and recorded mass violations.
Over the 12 months, nearly 8,300 violations were identified. As a result, transport companies received fines totaling 2.9 million rubles (approximately $29,000 at current rates). So far, only 1.8 million rubles (about $18,000) has been collected. The remaining funds the Center for Transport System Development plans to obtain through lawsuits.
The largest number of violations — over a thousand — were found at the main city carrier, Nizhegorodpassazhiravtotrans. Most of them are related to non-compliance with established bus schedules.
Previously, the Center for Transport System Development had already appealed to private vehicle drivers not to obstruct public transport. The agency noted that trolleybuses and trams often stand idle due to cars parked in unauthorized places and road traffic accidents on tram tracks.
