A collision between a Belarusian trolleybus and a German Volkswagen Tiguan crossover occurred in Volgograd on January 21 near the «Ploshchad Vozrozhdeniya» stop. Video of the accident site has appeared online.

In footage shot after the incident, it can be seen that the trolleybus sustained damage to the plastic cladding on its rear. The Volkswagen Tiguan was damaged more severely: its front end was seriously damaged, and the hood was noticeably deformed.

The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Volgograd Region confirmed the road traffic accident, emphasizing there were no fatalities or injuries. More detailed information about the incident was provided by the municipal unitary enterprise «Metroelektrotrans».

«The trolleybus had pulled away from the »Ploshchad Vozrozhdeniya« stop and approached the location of the overhead line switch,» the enterprise explained. «To pass the switch, the driver reduced speed, and at that moment, the crossover crashed into the rear. There were no injuries among the trolleybus passengers; now the parties involved are completing the accident documentation procedure.»

The trolleybus involved in the accident is a BKM 32100D «Olgerd» model. This high-capacity, low-floor trolleybus was produced by the Belarusian manufacturer Belkommunmash in April 2022 and has been operating on Volgograd routes since May as part of a fleet renewal program.
