As part of their winter training camp in Qatar, Zenit faced Chinese side Shanghai Port in a friendly match. The game took place at the Aspire Centre stadium in Doha and ended with a 4-1 victory for the Russian team.

Forward Luis Enrique opened the scoring in the 11th minute. Pedro extended Zenit«s lead on the 20th minute. After the break, goals were added by Alexander Sobolev (71st minute) and Alexander Erokhin (81st). Shanghai Port only managed to score in the dying minutes, reducing the deficit.

This match marked the debut of center-back Igor Diveyev, who played for the Saint Petersburg club for the first time.

This friendly was part of Zenit«s first stage of winter preparations. In the Russian Premier League, after 18 rounds, the team sits in second place with 39 points.
