SKA«s management has decided on personnel changes, leading to the departure of coaches Vladimir Filatov and Maxim Semyonov. The primary cause is attributed to the club»s poor results this season.
Representatives of SKA«s press service reported that both specialists will continue to work within the club»s system. They were thanked for their contribution to the development of the main team.
Vladimir Filatov joined the SKA coaching staff in July 2024 along with head coach Igor Larionov. Prior to moving to the St. Petersburg club, they worked together at Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod. Filatov«s career includes managing SKA-1946, with which he won the Kharlamov Cup, working at SKA-Neva and Omsk Wings, as well as participation in the coaching staffs of Russia»s junior, youth, and senior national teams.
Maxim Semyonov joined SKA in the summer as well. As a coach, he previously worked at Barys, SKA-Neva, and Lada, and last season he was involved in work with the national teams. Semyonov has over 600 KHL games to his name.
The changes in the coaching staff followed a major defeat of SKA by Torpedo in Nizhny Novgorod with a score of 0–6. After 47 games played, the St. Petersburg team occupies eighth place in the KHL Western Conference standings, with 24 wins and 23 losses.
