Torpedo trades goalie for two players from Admiral

Nizhny Novgorod hockey club Torpedo has conducted a trade with Vladivostok«s Admiral, as a result of which forward Igor Geraskin and goaltender Dmitry Shugaev have joined the team, while goaltender Ivan Kulbakov has left the roster.

The details of the transfer were commented on by Torpedo«s general director Yevgeny Zabuga.

The club made a difficult decision regarding Ivan Kulbakov«s move, as he needs regular playing time, especially considering that on June 1 he will become an unrestricted free agent. Initially, an exchange with one of the top clubs in the Eastern Conference was considered, but the terms of the transfer could not be agreed upon. Ivan accepted the situation with dignity and professionalism. For Torpedo, it is important to ensure the KHL debut of Nizhny Novgorod hockey product Dmitry Dagestansky, who has earned it with his work and attitude.
Igor Geraskin is 27 years old. He is one of the most experienced forwards in the KHL, and at the age of 20, he was already the captain of Severstal, becoming one of the youngest leaders in the league«s history. The hockey player was twice recognized as his team»s top scorer at the end of the season, and as part of Magnitogorsk«s Metallurg, he won the Gagarin Cup.
In total, in the KHL, Geraskin has played 537 games, accumulating 216 points. He also participated in the All-Star Game and played for Russia«s youth and Olympic teams.
Dmitry Shugaev is also 27 years old. He made his KHL debut at the age of 21 and soon became the starting goaltender for Severstal. The goaltender was called up to the Russian national team and in 2021 played for the national team in the Euro Hockey Tour.
Recall that on January 19, Torpedo defeated the current KHL champion, Yaroslavl«s Lokomotiv, with a score of 3:1.
