SKA Extends Losing Streak with Defeat to Lokomotiv

HC SKA suffered its fifth consecutive loss in the KHL championship, falling at home to Yaroslavl's Lokomotiv 1:3. The match, dedicated to the 82nd anniversary of the lifting of the Siege of Leningrad, failed to help Igor Larionov's team snap the skid.

On January 27 at the Ice Palace, SKA hosted the Western Conference leader Lokomotiv. The visitors opened the scoring just 28 seconds into the match with a goal from Maxim Shalunov. In the second period, Alexander Radulov doubled the Yaroslavl team«s advantage.
Shalunov scored again into an empty net in the final minutes to complete a double. Rocco Grimaldi netted the hosts« lone goal in the 60th minute, but it did not affect the outcome.
This defeat marks the fifth in a row for the Petersburg army men in the current championship. Over the last two games, the team has conceded nine goals while scoring only once. SKA«s last victory came on January 14 with a 5:2 win over the Shanghai Dragons.
That success was followed by a string of losses: to Torpedo, Spartak, Minsk Dinamo, Sochi, and finally Lokomotiv. SKA now sits in eighth place in the Western Conference with 53 points.
Lokomotiv, securing its fourth win over SKA this season, continues to lead the conference with 69 points. SKA«s next game is on January 30 in Moscow against Spartak.
