SKA and Sibir Trade Forwards
The Continental Hockey League (KHL) clubs SKA and Sibir have exchanged forwards. St. Petersburg has strengthened its ranks with Canadian Scott Wilson, while Andrei Loktionov will continue his career in Novosibirsk.
In the current regular season, Wilson has scored 18 points, with 10 goals and 8 assists in 43 games. Loktionov has recorded 7 points (1 goal, 6 assists) in 34 games played.
The contracts of both players are valid until May 30, 2027.
In a statement, SKA«s press service thanked Loktionov for his contribution to the team and wished him luck in Sibir. Wilson was welcomed and wished bright performances in St. Petersburg.
The exchange is a logical resolution of the situation surrounding Loktionov, who previously conflicted with the head coach of the army team, Igor Larionov. The disagreement arose after the match with Sochi on January 16, which ended with a score of 1:2. In that game, the forward did not take the ice in the third period and finished with a plus-minus rating of -2.
Immediately after the final siren, a sharp conversation occurred between the coach and the player. Later, Larionov publicly confirmed that the club was parting ways with the player.
The 35-year-old Loktionov became an SKA player before the start of the current season, after Larionov«s appointment as head coach. Previously, they had long been acquainted—Larionov had represented the forward»s interests as an agent in the past.
After 47 games played, SKA holds eighth place in the Western Conference standings of the KHL.
