Rotor is negotiating with Bulgarian defender Stamatov

Sergei Ilyev, in his Telegram channel, spoke about the interest of football club Rotor in Bulgarian defender Mateo Stamatov. The journalist ironically noted that the Volgograd team has become very active in transfer matters.
According to Ilyev, the team currently has three players in certain positions, which creates excessive competition and could negatively affect the atmosphere.
To optimize the squad, the club is ready to terminate the contract with 21-year-old Nikita Nikiforov, who was acquired in the summer from Chernomorets, but has hardly played due to injury.
Also likely is the early termination of another player«s loan – Kirill Nikishin. Rotor is negotiating with Baltika about his return.
The team«s new head coach, Dmitry Parfenov, is interested in signing 26-year-old left-back Mateo Stamatov, who plays for Bulgarian club Septemvri. The negotiations are difficult because the player»s side insists on a 2.5-year contract.
At Rotor, they remind that the last foreign player from abroad – Dutchman Omar Ulad – played for the club in the 2021/22 season.
Stamatov already has experience playing in Russia: he played for Orenburg and Nizhny Novgorod«s Pari NN. His possible return to Russian football as part of the Volgograd team will lead to reshuffles in the starting lineup.
Ilyev suggested whose positions could be at risk if the Bulgarian arrives:
- Maxim Khramtsov could leave the team.
- Vyacheslav Bardybakhin, on loan from Akron, will lose his guaranteed spot in the starting lineup.
- If Bardybakhin is moved to the right flank, then Alexander Korotkov«s place will be in question, and Gleb Shilnikov could become a candidate to leave.
