Rostov-Don Secures Victory Over Astrakhanochka

Rostov-Don«s latest win reinforces their lead in the Russian women»s handball championship standings.
In the Russian women«s handball championship, Rostov-Don secured a victory over Astrakhanochka at home with a score of 36:22.
The guests started the match confidently and led 2:0 by the fourth minute. Although the Rostov team periodically equalized the score, by halftime they were trailing 12:13. In the first half, goalkeeper Anastasia Ryabtseva got injured and was replaced by Anastasia Kazmenko, who was later named the best player of the match, saving 12 out of 24 shots.
Head coach of Rostov-Don Irina Dibirova commented on the first half: «We played the first half very poorly. We missed a lot in attack, it didn»t work out. Because of that, we were somewhat upset, but we held on in defense. We went into the break down by one, not as we usually can be: down by five, four, or more. So there was a positive here, but the attack was horrible.«
The second half was completely different for the team, as they immediately took the initiative and confidently increased their advantage. The winner of the match was determined long before the final whistle.
After the game, a traditional charity event took place: spectators showered the playing court with plush toys, mostly bears. Irina Dibirova remarked on it: «Coaches don»t really like distracting moments. But this is such an event where we help children. It«s all very important and necessary. We didn»t want to let the fans down. The hall was full, everything went very well and beautifully. And I think that all children like it, and the spectators, and at the same time it was a very useful match.«
This victory became Rostov-Don«s 18th consecutive win in the national championship. The team firmly holds the top spot in the tournament table.
