Krasnodar to Build Gymnastics Palace for 2.7 Billion Rubles

Preparations are continuing in Krasnodar for the construction of the Palace of Gymnastic Sports, which will be located on the territory of «Sports City». As reported on January 27 by the regional administration, the future arena will be able to accommodate about 2,000 spectators; currently, the land plot for the facility is being formalized, and the completion dates were not specified.
At the same time, the Krasnodar city hall previously stated to the portal 93.RU that construction of the facility is already underway. And work was planned to begin in 2025. Already in April, the project underwent state examination.
«According to the Ministry of Finance of Krasnodar Krai, within the framework of the investment project »Sports City«, construction is currently underway of the property of Krasnodar Krai »Palace of Gymnastic Sports«, financed from the budget of Krasnodar Krai, with a commissioning date in 2026.»
According to the governor«s decree of September 5, 2025, the Gymnastics Palace will open no earlier than 2028. The funding volume is 2.7 billion rubles (approximately $27 million at current rates). The money will come from the regional budget.
The new building is planned to have fitness, choreographic, and training halls, as well as an arena for two thousand spectators. Here, it will be possible to engage in artistic, rhythmic, aesthetic gymnastics, trampoline jumping, and sports acrobatics.
Similar gymnastics centers are planned to be created in all 44 municipalities of Kuban. They will include sports halls with warm-up areas and separate rooms for choreography classes.
To date, the region has 32 branches of the regional Olympic reserve sports school for rhythmic gymnastics. Branches are open, including in Sochi, Armavir, Gelendzhik, Anapa, and Novorossiysk. In total, about 36,000 people are engaged in gymnastics in Kuban, of which 12,000 are in rhythmic gymnastics.
«Park of Achievements»
The territory of «Sports City» in Krasnodar includes the project of a large-scale «Park of Achievements», which was first discussed back in the spring of 2022. Then it was presented as one of the city«s largest parks with an area of 38.5 hectares and compared to the »Krasnodar« park. The project won the city vote, garnering over 87,000 votes, but over three years, it has not progressed beyond plans and sketches.
Initially, the authorities stated that the improvement would be carried out in stages and completed by the end of 2026. However, in 2023 and 2024, the city hall repeatedly reported a lack of funding—first from the region, then at the city budget level. In the fall of 2024, in the new General Plan, the zone for the park was transferred to the category of specialized public development, explaining this by the need to simplify the construction of sports facilities.
The project was returned to only in the summer of 2025, when Governor Veniamin Kondratyev promised to start design at the expense of the regional budget. At the same time, the city hall clarified: only a sketch had been prepared previously, and there are no funds for design and estimate documentation yet. Consideration of the funding issue was postponed to 2026.
