On 21 January, the final nine matches of the Champions League seventh round were played. Bayern, Barcelona, and Chelsea secured victories, settling many questions ahead of the tournament«s last group stage game.

Tournament Format

In the Champions League group stage, 36 teams are competing. Now there are no groups, only an overall table. This format is being used for the second time in the Champions League.

Each team will play eight matches: four at home and four away. All opponents will be different.

The top eight teams in the tournament table will go directly to the round of 16. Clubs from 9th to 24th place will participate in the play-off round (round of 32). For teams from 25th to 36th place, the European cup season will be over.

The matches of the eighth round will take place on 28 January 2026.
