As the photographer told NGS, he managed to capture the phenomenon 25-30 kilometers from the city — just before reaching Plotnikov.

«This is a good field where I constantly shoot the aurora, because city light pollution would ruin everything,» notes Alexey.

Such powerful auroras, visible to the naked eye, occur about 2-3 times a year, while those that only a camera can capture — 20-30.

According to the photographer, the phenomenon occurs when there is a flare on the Sun.

«The Earth»s magnetosphere becomes excited and charged particles fly from the Sun. Actually, they start to illuminate the sky so beautifully,« says Alexey.

They are called «northern» because a powerful storm can descend all the way to the equator and it is in the North that they are seen best.

Residents of Krasnoyarsk Krai also noticed the northern lights. The sky turned a beautiful crimson color. Mesmerizing photos were published.
