Tyumen: Kindergarten Site Slated for High-Rise Development

The administration of Tyumen District has put up for discussion a project to amend the General Plan for a number of settlements. Among the proposals is a change in the functional zoning of a plot between Lermontov and Turgenev streets in the village of Patrusheva.
According to the current document, this territory is allocated for multifunctional public and business development, including a kindergarten and a sports facility. The new project proposes the construction of a high-rise residential complex on this site. The public and business zone is planned to be moved closer to the forest area along Leo Tolstoy Street.
The forest area currently serves as a natural barrier between residential development and Chervishevskoye Cemetery. If the new plan is implemented, the kindergarten will be located several hundred meters from the graves.
Residents are dissatisfied that only three days have been allotted for familiarization with the project and participation in discussions. They believe that the public hearings are just a formality and that decisions have already been made in advance.
It is separately noted that the comprehensive territorial development program will radically change the appearance of the Lesobaza district.
