Baden-Baden sells legendary club building near Mayakovsky Park

Baden Family, which operates the Baden-Baden thermal complex chain, has sold the building of the former Gold club near Mayakovsky Park. This information was confirmed to E1.RU by the company. The new owner of the property and the amount of the deal were not specified.

Baden Family purchased the building in 2023. Initially, the new owners wanted to make a spa there, then an idea emerged to open a restaurant called «Masha and the Bear». However, after starting work on the Badenland project at the site of the former Kommoll shopping mall, the company«s plans changed. In spring 2024, the former club was put up for sale, asking 225 million rubles ($2.4 million at current rates). Later, the price was reduced to 160 million rubles ($1.7 million).

The Gold club operated for only three years. It was opened in 2008 by businessmen Maxim Reutov and Alexei Balashov. Themed parties were held here and stars were invited. The history of one of the city«s most famous clubs ended tragically in 2011: due to a pipe burst, the club and the surrounding area were flooded with boiling water. The damage amounted to about 60 million rubles ($645,000 at current rates). Gold never reopened.

Earlier, the director of the Central Park of Culture and Leisure (TsPKiO), Pavel Zubakin, announced plans to purchase the club building, which in Soviet times housed the Mayakovsky cinema, in order to open a concert venue there, but this plan did not come to fruition. The park«s press service told E1.RU that the park did not become the new owner of the property.
