Taekwondo Champion Ivan Seleznev Leaves Volgograd City Council

Multiple-time world and European taekwondo champion Ivan Seleznev has ended his work as a deputy of the Volgograd City Council. He is not leaving politics entirely, but prefers not to publicize his specific future plans.
«I left because I was asked to take on other duties,» Ivan Seleznev told V1.RU evasively. «As far as I know, the idea came from Andrei Ivanovich. This will be a »promotion.« I am very grateful for the recognition. I am familiar with the field I will be working in from firsthand experience, so I already have ideas and ready-made developments that we will begin to implement in the near future.»
Seleznev has not only sports and political achievements. He holds a Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences degree, is a graduate of a physical education academy, and served as a school director for 16 years. This experience, in his opinion, will help in his new activity.
Meanwhile, the anonymous Telegram channel «General»s Cat« reported that Ivan Seleznev may become the deputy chairman of the Volgograd Region Sports Committee.
Recall that last year, State Duma deputy from Volgograd Region Oleg Savchenko also prematurely resigned his powers. As he explained, he was tasked with working on a project to expand the Africa–Middle East transport corridor, which did not allow him to devote time to parliamentary work.
