Alexander German resigns from Federal Customs Service, returns to St. Petersburg
Former head of St. Petersburg's environmental protection committee Alexander German has resigned from his position as deputy head of the Federal Customs Service. He is returning to his hometown.

Alexander German, who previously headed the environmental protection committee of the St. Petersburg administration, is leaving his position as deputy head of the Federal Customs Service. The resignation was formalized by an order from Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin dated January 28.
The official is leaving of his own volition. Alexander German confirmed that he is finishing his work at the Federal Customs Service and returning to St. Petersburg. «I»m simply returning home to my family,« he said, adding that he currently has no clear career plans.
Alexander German was born in Leningrad. Until 2004, he worked in law enforcement agencies. At Smolny, his career began in 2014 in the committee for consumer market development. Then he became deputy head of the Committee for Property Relations, and in 2021 he headed the environmental protection committee. In November 2024, he took up the position of advisor to the governor, and in January 2025 he was appointed deputy head of the Federal Customs Service.
