Worker dies at major Voronezh synthetic rubber production plant

An employee of a contracting organization died at the Voronezhsyntezkauchuk (VSK) plant today, January 29. This was reported by plant representatives.

The tragedy occurred due to a failure to observe safety rules during work on the plant premises.
«A commission involving supervisory authorities and plant services has begun investigating the causes of the incident,» VSK reported.
Voronezhsyntezkauchuk is a producer of synthetic rubbers and SBS polymers (thermoplastic elastomers). It is part of SIBUR Holding, one of the largest petrochemical companies in Russia. The plant«s revenue in 2024 was 17 billion rubles (approximately $189 million at current rates), profit — 774 million rubles (approximately $8.6 million at current rates).
Update: As reported by the regional Investigative Committee, the deceased was 18 years old. The incident occurred in the Levoberezhny district of Voronezh. Investigators are conducting an inspection: they have already examined the scene and are now interviewing witnesses and employees of the organization.
Documentation was also seized, including that regulating occupational safety organization at the plant. A forensic medical examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of the young man«s death. After the inspection, a decision will be made on further measures.
Update 2: As reported by a source from Voronezh1.ru, VSK management was at the scene immediately and interacted with the deceased«s relatives. The line where the accident occurred had not been commissioned — it is in the start-up and adjustment phase. The contracting organization for which the deceased worked is Outsors-Logistik. According to Rusprofile, it engages in, among other things, repair of machinery and equipment at large enterprises across the country. It is registered in Novosibirsk. There is no information on profit or number of employees.
