Woman Denied Coat at Hospital, Gets It After Filming Incident
The incident involved a woman being refused her coat at the Novosibirsk hospital«s cloakroom.
At the State Novosibirsk Regional Clinical Hospital, security guards refused to give a woman her coat because the cloakroom was closed. As Elena told NGS, she came to visit her mother, who had been transferred from intensive care to a ward. Her clothes were only given to her after the woman started filming the incident on video.
According to Elena, the incident occurred on 24 October. She came to the hospital to visit her 76-year-old mother, who had been transferred from intensive care to a regular ward after surgery. Before that, the pensioner had been in the endocrinology department for five days in serious condition.
The woman left her outerwear in the main building of the hospital and went to the ward. At 16:00, she went down to get her things, but the cloakroom was closed. Elena approached the security staff and explained the situation. She claims that she was rudely told that on Saturdays the cloakroom works until 13:00, and they directed her to another guard. She tried to explain everything to him again, apologized for not making it in time: due to the non-standard situation, doctors allowed her to stay with the patient longer.
“In response, there was a cheeky and humiliating reaction: they told me that I had broken all the rules, the cloakroom is closed, and they don’t have the keys. The head guard in a rude manner began to accuse me, lecture me, and in the end essentially sent me out into the street without clothes. I asked what I should do, he repeated that I should go undressed. He says: ‘Come back tomorrow’,” Elena describes what happened.
She adds that she went out into the street without clothes, but then returned and decided to record what was happening on video.
“Instead of answering, he hid his badge. And only when I was already filming the video and said that I would contact the editorial office, the guard took the key, opened the cloakroom, and gave me my clothes. There were several other jackets hanging in the cloakroom,” Elena recalls.
Elena claims that security guards only returned her coat after she began recording the incident on video.
The press service of the regional hospital confirmed to an NGS journalist that the woman came for her clothes when the cloakroom was already closed.
“In this case, the duty guard issues the clothes, which he did. The situation when items are left in the cloakroom after the end of the working day is a common occurrence. Security service staff always issue clothes to visitors,” explained the hospital’s press service.
No complaints have been received by the hospital regarding the cloakroom, the press service notes.
