Volgograd gas pipeline damaged, thousands without heating
Utility services in Volgograd are dealing with the aftermath of an accident on a gas main, which left residents of the Spartanovka neighborhood without heating and gas. Supply is being restored.

In the Traktorozavodsky district of Volgograd, on Lavreneva Street, an above-ground gas pipeline was damaged as a result of a traffic accident. The incident led to the shutdown of gas and heating in apartment buildings in the Spartanovka neighborhood.
Representatives of JSC «Volgogradgorgaz» confirmed the depressurization of the main: «The damaged section of the gas pipeline was localized by closing the shut-off valve, and repair work has now been completed.»
The gas shutdown paralyzed the operation of the local boiler house that provides heat to homes. In «Concessii Teplosnabzheniya» (Heat Supply Concessions), they explained: «Due to the suspension of gas supply by a third-party organization, heat supply was provided at reduced parameters. After gas supply is restored, the boiler house is heating the coolant.»
Residents report a gradual cooling of their apartments. Educational institutions in the area were closed, and schoolchildren were sent home.
This is not the first case of heating interruptions in Volgograd in recent days. The day before, on January 19, a similar situation occurred in the Tulak neighborhood due to damage to a heating main. Then, heat supply was restored by evening.
