Residents of the Academichesky district in Yekaterinburg witnessed an unusual scene on the morning of January 30. Tram route 1 was towing a Volkswagen car along the rails, which had become blocked on the tracks. The driver of the car, trying to bypass traffic while exiting the district, drove onto the tram tracks and got stuck in the snow.
A tram is seen towing a Volkswagen car along the tracks in Yekaterinburg.
The tram driver tried to find a tow rope among the drivers in the traffic jam. «The tram driver was running around the traffic jam, asking for a rope, no one was giving one, very strange, of course,» shared Roman, one of the participants in the events, with E1.RU. «I am the person who shared the rope.» With his help, the tram was able to attach the car.
With the provided rope, the tram successfully pulled the car out of the snow trap, dragging it some distance along the rails to a clear section of the road.
Similar cases where cars block tram tracks are not happening for the first time. For example, earlier in Yekaterinburg, a tram damaged a car stuck on the tracks.
According to plans for the development of the transport network, in 2026, a second tram route is supposed to appear in the Academichesky district. This was reported in January by Rustam Galiyev, acting first deputy head of Yekaterinburg.
