Third Longitudinal Highway in northern Volgograd closed after accident

Traffic on the Third Longitudinal Highway in the northern part of Volgograd was urgently closed due to a traffic accident. According to eyewitnesses, the traffic jam stretched for almost two kilometers in both directions.

The restrictions affect a section of about 1.5 kilometers near the Orlovsky spring. According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for Volgograd Region, crews are now clearing the aftermath of an accident involving a truck that veered into a ditch.
«In connection with the work to lift a Mercedes truck with a semi-trailer that went into a ravine on January 21, the movement of all vehicles will be temporarily restricted,» the department said.
Traffic was promised to reopen within the next 10 minutes, though officials clarified it could be restricted again during the day if necessary.
We remind you that the section of the highway near the Orlovsky spring is known for its high accident rate, particularly for heavy trucks. Three weeks ago, for example, a truck involved in an accident blocked traffic near a sand quarry, creating a giant traffic jam.
