Student Gives Birth in College Toilet, Staff and Medics Face Discipline

The prosecutor«s office, following checks into publications about sudden childbirth in a college dormitory, identified violations within the preventative services system. Specifically, the minor»s pregnancy remained a secret despite her regularly seeking medical care. This was reported to Chita.Ru by Yevgeny Sinelnikov, senior assistant prosecutor for Zabaykalsky Krai.
«It has been established that on 23 November 2025, a 17-year-old student at the educational institution experienced precipitous labor. She had not previously been registered at the local hospital»s prenatal clinic, had not been examined by doctors, and had not reported the pregnancy at her place of study. Since May 2025, the girl had repeatedly sought assistance from a medical organization for various reasons, including just two hours before giving birth. However, a proper examination was not initiated. Furthermore, college staff responsible for educational work did not report visual signs of pregnancy to the medical institution,« the statement says.
The Aginsky District Prosecutor«s Office issued directives to the hospital»s chief physician and the educational institution«s director to rectify the violations of the law. Following a review, eight employees were held subject to disciplinary action.
In addition, the prosecutor«s office for Chita»s Central District issued a directive to the director of a private medical organization that failed to report the minor«s pregnancy to the authorized bodies. The clinic»s head is also intended to be held liable under Part 3 of Article 14.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (Violation of requirements and conditions for entrepreneurial activity stipulated by a license). The fine for officials is up to 4,000 rubles (approx. $45 USD at current rates), and for legal entities up to 40,000 rubles (approx. $450 USD).
Following the incident, the mother and child were discharged from the hospital and are now living at home.
The baby, wrapped in clothing, was found in the toilet of a pedagogical college dormitory in the settlement of Aginskoye, Zabaykalsky Krai. The mother and child were hospitalized.
