The First Western District Military Court sentenced Andrei Gneushev to 5 years and 1 month in a general regime colony for publicly justifying terrorism. Information about this was received on January 30 from the united press service of the courts of St. Petersburg.

The incriminated act was committed on May 12, 2023, when Gneushev, while in the Pskov region, used a phone to post a comment in an open social media channel. In the publication, he justified the actions of the nationalist organization «Russian Volunteer Corps»* (RDK), which was officially recognized as terrorist on November 16, 2023.

The defendant fully admitted his guilt and expressed remorse. In addition to the main prison term, the court banned him from administering internet resources for two years. Previously, in May 2024, Gneushev was already sentenced to one year of restricted freedom for illegal storage of rifle cartridges at his home.

*The organization «Russian Volunteer Corps» is recognized as terrorist and its activities are prohibited on the territory of the Russian Federation.
