Priora Hits Pedestrian on Crosswalk and Flees Scene in Stavropol

Leaving the scene of an accident is strictly prohibited, but this does not stop some people. Thus, the driver of a passenger car hit a woman who was crossing the road and fled. Law enforcement agencies are searching for the unknown individual.

According to preliminary information from the Stavropol Krai State Traffic Inspectorate (GAI), the accident occurred on January 29 around 7:00 p.m. on Gagarin Street in Georgiyevsk. The driver of a dark-colored Priora did not yield to a pedestrian who was crossing the roadway on a crosswalk. The unknown individual did not stay to deal with the situation and simply fled.
Unfortunately, there were injuries. A 49-year-old woman who was hit by the car sought hospital treatment for injuries. She was prescribed outpatient treatment.
Currently, law enforcement agencies are searching for the driver who left the accident scene. Witnesses, as well as anyone who knows the location of the driver and the vehicle, are asked to report information by phone: 8 (87951) 2-61-40.
It is worth noting that leaving the accident site is prohibited. According to Article 12.27 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation «Failure to Fulfill Obligations in Connection with a Road Traffic Accident,» this can result in a fine from 1000 rubles (approximately $10 at current rates), license revocation, or administrative arrest. For a crime where the victim dies or suffers serious harm, criminal liability under Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation «Violation of Traffic Rules and Operation of Vehicles» may also apply.
Meanwhile, another serious accident occurred in the Budyonnovsky District. On the Kochubey — Neftekumsk — Zelenokumsk — Mineralnye Vody highway, the driver of a Howo T5G truck wanted to turn left at an intersection but did not yield to a VAZ-21140 that was moving in the opposite lane. As a result, the vehicles collided. Two people were injured, including a 16-year-old teenager.
