Power supply has been restored to homes in the village of Markova, Irkutsk Oblast, after a fire at a transformer substation. This was reported by Irkutsk District Mayor Leonid Frolov on his Telegram channel. The outage left around 400 people without electricity overnight and through the morning of January 20.

The outage affected residents of the «Park Pushkino» neighborhood, the «Romashka» dacha settlement, and the «Varezhki» cottage community. According to Frolov, increased electricity consumption due to persistent frost led to an overload on the power line during the night of January 20. The first fire occurred at 9:06 p.m. on January 19. The fault was fixed by 2:40 a.m. A second fire broke out at 3:40 a.m.

«Power supply was restored at 12:53 p.m. Crews from Southern Electric Networks replaced the damaged wire, redistributed the load, and installed an additional switch alongside the existing two,» Frolov wrote.

As reported in the Telegram channel «Svet38,» an insulated wire was damaged overnight and replaced. However, after the initial repair, within 40 minutes the load increased to its limit, causing damage to the insulated wire at the switch contacts.

The crews replaced the damaged wire and «divided» the consumers: in addition to the two existing switches, they installed another one to increase the load capacity of the switching equipment.

Irkutsk District Mayor urged residents not to overload the power grid and avoid turning on multiple electrical appliances simultaneously.
