Police say smoking caused taxi fire outside Rostov court

On the morning of January 29, a taxi caught fire near the Pervomaysky District Court in Rostov-on-Don. The vehicle burst into flames, but according to police, the driver and passengers had already exited the car by that time, so there were no casualties.
Police in Rostov provided an explanation for the incident. «The driver lit a cigarette in the taxi. The car runs on gas, so it caught fire. There was no explosion as such. There is no criminal element to this story,» the department reported.
According to eyewitnesses, a sound resembling an explosion was heard first, after which the car instantly caught fire and was almost completely destroyed.
