On the morning of January 28, a heating pipe burst in an apartment at 49 Liteyny Prospect. As a result, a 42-year-old man suffered burns on both feet and was taken to the hospital, while a guinea pig, gifted to his son, died in the hot water.

Several days before the incident, the child noticed that the carpet in the room was wet. The father discovered drips from the pipe and called emergency services on the same day.

The arriving specialists applied a bandage to the pipe, promising to return for repairs the next day. However, the plumber who came only documented the leak with photos, stating that it was a warranty case and nothing could be done.

‘When asked what if it bursts, he said: here, if it was done well, well, it shouldn«t burst,’ the man recounted. ‘And yesterday morning at 6 a.m., our neighbor woke us up and said that steam was coming from under the door.’

When the father opened the door to the room, hot water gushed out onto him. The children had been moved to a far room in advance, but the guinea pig remained in the room and died. Also, a computer standing on the floor in the adjacent room was damaged by water.

The victim reported that the child could not calm down for a long time and cried until midnight. ‘I saw him sitting over the corpse before I was taken away…’ the man shared.

Currently, he is still in the hospital with blisters on his feet and awaits further examination. The man confirmed that he intends to file a report with the police.

He also noted that two years ago, a similar pipe burst occurred in the apartment one floor above, but the blame was placed on the owner then. The family has repeatedly complained about pipe bulges to the management company, but there was no response.
