Mother of Two from Samara Vanishes After Strange Trainings

31-year-old Yekaterina Savelyeva from Samara, an aspiring actress and model and mother of two young children, disappeared on October 22, 2025. Her last message to her ex-husband was brief: «I»m leaving abroad.« Then — silence. Silence occasionally interrupted by strange, template messages from an unknown number: »Hello, how are you? How are the children?« No response to replies. As if on the other end of the line, it wasn»t a living person answering, but a soulless algorithm.
Her trail is lost sometimes in Kazakhstan, where she was seen begging from passersby, then in Moscow, where she was restoring a lost passport, then, according to some reports, leads to sunny Dubai. In her social networks, her name and surname changed, now she is «Nicole Starkova.» And in the police, there is a missing person report and a notebook with entries that make investigators talk not just about fleeing, but about recruitment. About the fact that the young woman could have become a victim of a well-organized group with all the signs of a destructive cult.
What happened? How did the life of an ordinary Samara resident, a successful beauty master, a happy mother, turn into a criminal detective with an international trail? Who and why gave her these strange, increasingly absurd and dangerous tasks? And most importantly — where is Yekaterina now?
To understand this, we need to go back. To the point where the «pink» human dream and the ruthless machine of its exploitation intersected.

From Orphanage to Beauty Salon
Yekaterina Savelyeva (nee Smirnova) is not one of those whom life smiled upon from the very beginning. An orphan, raised in an orphanage. The state provided her with an apartment, and then she built her life herself. And, credit to her, she built it persistently. She married successfully, had two children. Found a beloved occupation — opened her own beauty salon, specialized in eyelash extensions and eyebrow coloring. Clients loved her for her easygoing nature and skilled hands.
From the outside — a success story. An orphan who rose up, created a family and business. But, as her friends tell, inside Yekaterina there always lived a feeling that she «deserved more.» A sensation familiar to millions of people, fueled by social networks with their glossy pictures of others« lives. She wanted not just to be a good mother and entrepreneur. She wanted to shine.
«A couple of years ago, Katya got into motivational trainings,» her friends say. «She became convinced that she could unlock her potential, work as a model, act in films, travel to different countries. And she began to realize her dreams.»

Dreams — wonderful fuel. But in unskilled hands, it can burn the very fragile foundation that was built with such difficulty. Katya started going to beauty contests, enrolled in pole acrobatics, acted in clips for local bands and advertisements. She created a profile where she indicated: «Beginning actor,» «Beginning model,» «Ready to relocate to any country.» In the «Dream» field, it was written: «Move to Moscow, get a creative education, create projects.»
Her husband, initially supportive of his wife«s hobbies, began to notice that the children were taking a back seat. At home, there was often emptiness — both in the refrigerator and in communication. Arguments began. The conflict between the »pragmatic« reality of family life and the »exalted« reality of trainings and castings became inevitable. And Katya made a choice. She left. Rented an apartment and, freed up, threw herself with renewed vigor into »forging her happiness.«

«Kinoprichal»: The Reality That Wasn«t
In the summer of 2025, luck seemed to smile upon her. Yekaterina passed the selection and became a participant in the reality show «Kinoprichal» in Gelendzhik. Two weeks of master classes in acting, stage movement, etiquette. Two weeks in the company of fellow dreamers, under the guidance of trainers who promised to «mold them into stars.»
«She returned inspired,» acquaintances recall. «Her eyes were shining, she said that she had finally found her place. She was waiting for the show to air to see herself on screen.»

There was no broadcast. And none was planned. As found out a correspondent for «AiF,» looking at the project«s page, »Kinoprichal« was a paid educational intensive. Participation cost 150,000 rubles (approximately $1,500 at current rates), plus flight and excursions. The organizers were the »Academy of World Preservation (World Star Factory)« and the »Center of Life« of business trainer Nikolai Kovalev. The project featured names of former participants of »Dom-2.« Bright packaging, star names, promise of transformation — a classic set to attract those craving a miracle.
Yekaterina Savelyeva«s faith strengthened after the project. She sent video business cards to TV channels, acted in amateur videos. In her profile, she wrote:
«I acted in commercials, worked as a TV host, participated in fashion shows… I really want to act in films because I want to become a star.»
She wanted to become a star, but someone else wanted her to become a perfect target.
Conveyor of Total Obedience
In August, Katya told friends she was leaving Samara. «Going to study in Kazakhstan from my school,» she said. «And then to Dubai.»
«School.» This word became key. After her disappearance, relatives, breaking into the apartment, found that very notebook. Its content — a cold and methodical document, illustrating the technique of «soft» enslavement.
The tasks began with innocent, almost everyday ones:
Task 1: Go to the store and buy a specific item (practicing the mechanism of mindless order execution).
Task 2: Ride a car-sharing service along a certain route (control over movements, training for reporting).
Then — financial:
Task 3: Take out a loan for 3 million rubles (approximately $30,000 at current rates). She did it. Where the money went — a mystery. Perhaps they became her «contribution» to the organization or were transferred to «curators.»
And finally, total ones, breaking the personality and all social ties:
Task 4: Abandon everything, forget the children and go to Kazakhstan for training. She did that too.
This is a classic scheme of cult control, described by many experts on destructive groups. Social psychologist Mikhail Vershinin, studying recruitment mechanisms in communities like «Lifespring,» explains:
«The standard scheme for reinforcing the model of cult thinking is to send the newcomer to convince others of the cult»s idea. In the process, the adept unnoticeably to themselves begins to believe in this nonsense. Another trick is filling out cards where you are asked to write any goal. In the process, they «help» you believe that it is achievable only through training in the group. You yourself dangle your favorite kind of carrot in front of yourself and run after it.«
Yekaterina dangled the carrot — the image of herself as a star. And the curators methodically led her along a path where the goal moved away, and debts and dependence grew.
Trail in Moscow and New Name
In the fall of 2025, traces of Savelyeva appeared in Moscow. According to police, she filed a report about losing her passport and received new documents. This step is extremely important. A new passport facilitates going abroad, complicates searches, and can be used to issue documents under a new, «sectarian» name.
Parallelly, a metamorphosis occurred in her social networks. Yekaterina Savelyeva disappeared. Nicole Starkova appeared. A bright, glamorous, «star» name. As if the old personality, with her children, debts, and past, was erased. The account began to be maintained distantly, template-like. Messages that came to relatives («Hello, how are you? How are the children?») had nothing to do with live communication. Most likely, it was imitational contact, needed to create an appearance of well-being and delay serious searches.
On December 5, 2025, she was last seen in Moscow. Then — silence.
Shadows of «Gurus»: Pavel Rakov and «Harmony»
In materials provided by Savelyeva«s loved ones, in her social networks before disappearing, mentions of trainings and names known in the world of dubious »coaching« began to flash. One such name — Pavel Rakov.

Pavel Rakov positions himself as a family psychologist, «founder of popular women»s show-trainings since 1998.« On his Telegram channel — over 10,000 subscribers. He calls himself the creator of authorial methods. However, online there are a huge number of negative reviews about him. People accuse him of fraud, lack of psychological education (there is information that he is a physics teacher by education), aggressive and humiliating working methods.
«This is the most ordinary charlatan and fraudster,» writes in a desperate message on a forum the daughter of a woman who fell into his network. «My mother has already immersed herself headlong. They erased her personality and critical thinking. She doesn»t want to hear me or loved ones. She only wants to be there.«
Another user, who studied his methods, describes seminars where Rakov shouts at a female audience: «Bitches, creatures!», calling it «shock therapy.» He preaches ideas that «a woman who works does not live with her husband,» she is a «slave,» and teaches how to «get a high-ranking alpha male millionaire.» The cost of such «revelations» — from 8,000 to 15,000 rubles (approximately $80 to $150 at current rates).
What does this have to do with Yekaterina? A direct connection has not been established in the case materials. But the ecosystem itself is important. This is an environment where psychocults thrive — groups masquerading as personal growth trainings but using techniques of mind control, breaking with family, and financial enslavement. Yekaterina, with her thirst for transformation and belief in «quick success,» was ideal prey for hunters in this environment.
And for Samara, such groups are not new. Previously, 63.RU published an investigation about the training center «Harmony» and its head Ella Prudnikova. Former participants describe shocking practices: men were forced to walk in tights and high heels, given tasks like «collect 10 unused condoms from passersby» or «conduct a survey: “How often do you fart in the elevator?”» This — under the guise of «leadership programs» and «liberation.»
But the main thing — the financial scheme. People were drawn into debts, forced to take loans, register shell companies for «cashing out» money. Lawyer for the victims Alexei Kirdyashev states: «There are grounds for a criminal case, but it is extremely difficult to initiate it. The psychological context, systematicity, and intent often remain off-screen, and from the outside, it all looks like civil-law relations.»
This story is like a reflection in a distorted mirror of what might have happened to Yekaterina. The same handwriting: promise of personal growth, strange tasks, financial manipulations, break with the past.
International Trail: Kazakhstan, Dubai, UAE
According to information gathered by relatives and journalists, the chain of Savelyeva«s movements extends far beyond Russia.
Kazakhstan. That«s where she said she was going »for training.« Later, information came that she was seen in one of the country»s cities, where she was asking for money from passersby. A humiliating task? A way to transfer funds to curators? Or a sign that she had already been deprived of financial support?
Dubai / UAE. In correspondence with friends, she mentioned Dubai as the next point. The Investigative Committee in its queries is also working on the version of her being in the UAE. This route is alarming. The Middle East, especially the UAE, — a known destination not only for tourists but also for various dubious business projects and communities using the territory for their seminars.
Moscow. Returning to Russia to get a new passport — a logistical move, speaking of someone«s guidance. To lose a passport independently before a foreign trip — absurd. To do it by instruction, to get a »clean« document, — strategically possible.
Where do these trails lead? To a specific training center? To a commercial sect masquerading as an «acting school» or «community of wisdom and strength»? Or to something darker — a network connected not only to extorting money but also to human trafficking? For now, as they say in the IC, «one can only assume and build versions.»
«Mom, Come Back!»
While investigators analyze financial flows and request information from abroad, in Samara, two children are waiting for their mom. They are still too young to understand the complexity of this story. They just know that mom is gone. Yekaterina«s ex-husband, despite the divorce, is actively participating in the search. He and other relatives have posted alerts across the country.
«HELP FIND A PERSON,» the leaflet reads. «MAY BE IN YOUR CITY.» On it — a sweet, smiling girl with green eyes. Height 160 cm (5 ft 3 in), slender, blonde hair. Yekaterina Savelyeva or already Nicole Starkova? Who is she now?
Relatives filed a report with the police. A criminal case has been initiated, but the article is not disclosed yet — investigation secrecy. They are afraid to accept the worst version, clinging to any information. They believe that Katya is alive. That she was just «zombified,» deprived of will, but somewhere inside she remained that very girl from the orphanage who so wanted to be happy and loved.

What to do if your loved one is in trouble? Advice from a psychologist working with cult victims:
Do not judge or scold. A person under the influence of a cult sees group members as «saviors,» and relatives as «enemies who don»t understand them.« Aggression will only push away.
Maintain a thin emotional thread. Continue calling, writing, reminding of yourself, of love, of home. Even if the responses are template-like. Your task is to be a beacon in the fog.
Gather information. Carefully record everything: group names, curator names, strange phrases, financial transactions. This will help law enforcement.
Contact specialists. There are psychologists and lawyers specializing in helping victims of destructive cults and their families.
File a report with the police. If a person has disappeared, changed behavior, taken unexplained loans — this is a reason for an official appeal.
