Mother and son detained for stealing from marketplace in Murmansk region

Police in Nikel have uncovered a scheme to steal goods from a marketplace. The suspects are a 36-year-old woman from the north and her 18-year-old son, according to the Russian Interior Ministry«s office for the Murmansk region.
The woman worked at a parcel pick-up point. She would place orders using an acquaintance«s account, then receive the goods herself or with her son»s help at her own workplace. To conceal the crimes, the woman would initiate a return, but in reality, she never sent anything back to the warehouse. She stole everything indiscriminately: from personal hygiene items and clothing to household appliances and stationery. The damage inflicted on the online platform«s owner exceeded 200,000 rubles (about $2,200 at current rates).
A criminal case has been initiated against the mother and son under Part 2, Article 158 of the Russian Criminal Code, «Theft committed by a group of persons in a preliminary conspiracy.» They face up to 5 years of imprisonment.
As previously reported, a resident of the Murmansk region robbed a church shop, grabbing a gold chain and fleeing.
