Mercedes Arson on Begovaya: Teenager Threatened via Messenger
In St. Petersburg, police detained a 13-year-old teenager on suspicion of arson of a car. According to investigators, an unknown person who contacted him via a messenger might have pushed him to commit the crime.

On the evening of January 29, in the Primorsky District of St. Petersburg, an arson of a Mercedes car occurred. The incident took place on Begovaya Street near house 11, where the car owner lives.
Police quickly identified and detained the suspect. He turned out to be a 13-year-old teenager. According to preliminary information, an unknown person contacted the boy via one of the messengers and convinced him to set the car on fire. The perpetrator promised «help in freeing his parents from possible criminal prosecution.»
The teenager was questioned and handed over to his legal representatives. The investigation materials have been sent to the investigative authorities for a procedural decision.
The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for St. Petersburg and Leningrad Oblast appealed to parents to conduct explanatory conversations with children. «Dear citizens, police once again warn that if you receive calls from unknown numbers and are urged to commit rash acts, we strongly request: do not give in to provocations and immediately report this to law enforcement agencies,» the department stated.
