Majority of Kuzbass Settlement Residents Lose Heating After Emergency

Radiators began cooling in more than 65 apartment buildings and social facilities, including a hospital, due to an accident at a boiler house in Tyazhinsky. During minus 30-degree Celsius (-22°F) frosts, the boilers broke down, reported on Tuesday, January 20, the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) of Kuzbass.

Rescuers are monitoring the situation with cooling in the homes of hundreds of residents. According to the service, the temperature has now dropped in 67 apartment buildings, 44 private houses, and 5 socially significant buildings.

The heat supply interruptions began around 17:00.

The emergency at boiler house No. 1 was commented on in social networks by representatives of the Tyazhinsky district administration. In the evening, two boilers broke down, but one was repaired after a few hours. Specialists promise to put the second one into operation within 24 hours.

For the time while work is underway at the boiler house, the governor of the region, Ilya Seredyuk, sent an emergency recovery team with a mobile boiler house to the urban-type settlement of Tyazhinsky. Employees will reconnect medical institutions and one apartment building at 8 Oktyabrskaya Street to the mobile source so that it warms up quickly.

«Dear residents, we ask you to understand the situation that has arisen,» writes the press service.

At the same time, employees do not name the exact cause of the accident at the boiler house, but note that it was precisely «the frosty weather that presented another surprise.»

Since last week, residents of Yurga have been suffering from the cold in their apartments, where problems with fuel at the local thermal power plant have been observed again.
