Kurchatov Technician Sentenced to 7 Years for False Information
Dmitry Bogmut, a technician at the Institute of Nuclear Physics in St. Petersburg, has been sentenced to seven years in prison for spreading false information about the Russian army. The Gatchina City Court issued the verdict.

The Gatchina City Court in the Leningrad Region sentenced Dmitry Bogmut, a technician at the Institute of Nuclear Physics, to seven years in a general regime penal colony for spreading knowingly false information about the Russian Armed Forces.
The court considered evidence of the technician«s online posts supporting Ukraine.
The investigation found that from March to June 2023, the convicted person posted messages online with false information about the progress of the special military operation. In these publications, he also insulted Russians and military personnel, expressing support for the Ukrainian army.
Additionally, the court banned Bogmut for four years from engaging in activities related to publishing materials online. His arrest became known in April 2024.
Dmitry Bogmut worked as a technician at the St. Petersburg Institute of Nuclear Physics, which is part of the National Research Center «Kurchatov Institute». He is also listed in the register of terrorists and extremists by Rosfinmonitoring, Russia«s Federal Financial Monitoring Service.
